Transaction

Garrel, Germany, based SPC Sunflower Plastic Compound GmbH and Cargill GmbH jointly enter a joint venture to produce, refine and internationally distribute the biopolymer SPC™ which has been developed by SPC GmbH. In several phases, the eight digit investment volume will be used initially to establish a pilot plant in Ladbergen, Germany, and then subsequently to further expand the production until 2017.

Company

SPC GmbH has developed a biopolymer with a high bio ratio that can be processed without complications as a technical bio plastic and can also be used in die casting methods. After conducting intensive research, the sunflower seed shells accumulated during the sunflower seed processing were specially prepared and compounded with plastic. The entirely new product SPC™ – Sunflower-Plastic-Compound has emerged from this combination.

Cargill manufactures with more than 143,000 employees in 67 countries and provides products and services for the food, agricultural, finance and technical industry.
