The Valora Group, Muttenz (Switzerland), a listed company, is acquiring Frittenwerk, headquartered in Düsseldorf. With this acquisition, Valora is further expanding its multi-format strategy and entering the fast casual market. NETWORK exclusively advised Valora on the transaction.
The acquisition of Frittenwerk represents the next strategic step in Valora’s evolution from a food service business focused on takeaway offerings towards experiential dining with familiar self-service processes. With the acquisition Valora enters the rapidly growing fast-casual market and expects, with Frittenwerk as creative unit, a significant transfer of know-how and expertise. Valora plans to double Frittenwerk's current network of 27 locations by 2025. In 2021, Frittenwerk generated external sales of more than EUR 23 million - under pandemic conditions - with EBITDA of around EUR 2.5 million. Valora expects EBITDA to more than triple by 2025 due to scaling. The transaction is expected to close on July 1, 2022.
Valora operates some 2,700 points of sale in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. The company's brands include k kiosk, Brezelkönig, BackWerk, Ditsch, Press & Books, avec, Caffè Spettacolo and ok.-. Valora is also one of the world’s leading producers of pretzels. The company generated external sales of CHF 2.2 billion in 2021.
